Symons Group & Michelin: No Nasty Surprises

Symons Group have been working with Darren Erb of Advantage Tyres New Plymouth to improve their tyre breakdown issues. Here's their experience

Three years ago in response to some frustration with tyre breakdowns and blowouts costing us considerable downtime, we decided to review all aspects of operations in this area. Looking for a potential alternative, we were guided to a switch to Michelin product by Darren Erb at Advantage 

Advantage Tyres New Plymouth implemented a mixture of application-specific new and retread Michelin product for our fleet. Our tyre programme now also includes regrooving our Michelin cases which adds another life to our cases. We have seen a genuine reduction in downtime and are really happy with the service and advice we are receiving since beginning this transition. Michelin Retreads have shown us good mileage results and we have had a significant improvement in failure rates.

Darren and his team add real value to our operation by completing regular maintenance checks of our fleet’s tyre condition and performance. Their active management of our tyre programme involves forecasting future actions and replacements so we get the best life from our Michelin tyres. We have no nasty surprises – our fleet is ready to roll and we’re able to prepare for tyre servicing and replacements.

We are confident we will continue to see great improvements with Advantage Tyres and Michelin.
